Vice President-elect for Latin America

Aura was born in Mexico City, studied Psychology at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and has a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Salamanca University in Spain where she received a “Cum Laude” for her Thesis about structure and personality organization as a predictor for eating disorders. She was the Local Candidate Coordinator in the last IPA Congress in Mexico City 2011, and won the 2nd IPSO Writing Award, for one of the three IPSO regions: Latinoamérica, with the paper: “The Importance of the Countertransference Dream in Psychoanalytic treatment: A clinical case”. Aura’s favorite contemporary psychoanalysis authors are Bollas, Ogden, Winnicott and Bion. She loves being involved in IPSO because she feels that this is a way to help candidates to develop their potential to be psychoanalysts: “Being part of the IPSO Executive Committee facilitates organization of academic events and interchanges between psychoanalytic societies, allowing the opinions of everyone and ourselves too”. She has finished all theoretical courses at the Institute of Psychoanalysis at the Sociedad Psicoanalítica de México Parque-México (SPM) and now is completing her psychoanalytic supervision hours.
